Rocky and me

Times have changed...but, it's still the same ol' me. And it's still the same ol' Rocky.
My mom sent this photo to me a few months back and I remembered it when the accident happened. This is actually how I see Rocky when I think of him. Maybe because this is how he looked when we first met, so it's burned into my thoughts. We are both so goofy, too. It makes me laugh. I remember telling someone one time that "I got my sense of humor from him." Funny, I don't have his DNA. But that's not what makes up a "dad" anyway, right?

Soo cute, Ashlee has this same relationship with John. Its a gift to have someone like him to call dad. The DNA is is only a formality. The love makes it something to hang on to.
hang in there. our prayers are with all of you.
Tre.

I love that picture of you two. I was talking about the accident to a friend the other day and someone said "So, he's your dad's brother?" and it kinda really hit me that I really have no claim to him, other than the fact that he is and forever will be my "Uncle Rocky" and the love kindness he gives everyone makes him the best kind of uncle, dad, brother around.

Oh No! This photo makes me want to cry. Tina hang tight. Whatever happens, Nathan and I will be there for the family. We all love him very much. Sometimes it's not the DNA that makes up a family. It's the relationship. We love you.

Tina,
Today I stubbled upon your family blog and Rocky and Linda's too.
When I saw the old picture of you and Rocky I had a nostalgic "wave" pass over me.
You see, I had known Rocky for several years before he met your Mom. When I first met you and Nathan, it was at your house in La Habra, on the day of their wedding. That was also the last time I saw you, so lots of time has passed for both of us. So, the memories came flooding back. Hopefully, we'll be able to visit soon. I know Debbie wants to spend some time with you. She is currently getting her Masters in Nursing, so you have something in common.
Keep the faith, stay strong and focused. Please give your Mom a big hug for us.
We are here if you need us, please call if there is anything we can do for your family during Rocky's recovery.
John
I also got goosebumps reading Rocky's entry talking about the gas prices and less traffic on the roads.
